well, I admit, it isn’t the lightest one you would expect to dream of but, believe me, some times it’s just a matter of feeling !

… and then just some, more or less occasional, details

Hey I think its nice.

How many gears did your bike have?

Hi Claudius,
it mounts Shimano Nexus-7 (i.e. 7-gears); it's perhaps not at same level as Rohloff speedhub but it's precise enough and very well synchronized either while running or standstill.
Ciao.

Hmm and where you got these rear-panniers? I mean the leather-one, not the Vaude.

Leather bags seem to be exactly the ones of the link above.
Also the price seem to be very good.
Then, of course, on top of bags I've got some additional handcraft modification.

outsch, an aufa-spokebrake!
i had one but it was quite noisy and a waste of power.
a dymotec 6 is the better choice i think.

.... unfortunately ... I must agree 100%:
1. Yes, it's a real spokebrake
2. Yes, it's very noisy
3. Yes, it's a real waste of power
.... but, for this bicycle, I didn't have other option, crazy crazy

Perhaps you know the dymotec 12 ?

Ciao.

Re: my favourite ... Hawk Duncon ! - 01/23/10 12:40 AM

why do you need 12V?
for good light at little money get a dymotec 6 and a B&M iq fly. if you want more light try the B&M iq cyo.

i think there should be no problem to fit a state-of-the-art led-headlamp into your oldstyled one

for better efficiency get a wheel with a hub-integrated generator.

Well, actually I don't need 12V, I just like better efficiency of 12V systems.

I don't like very much side bottle-type dynamos but, if I have no other chance ....

Yes, I'll investigate

I'd like this solution but it's not possible, both front and rear hubs are already "occupied" by Nexave Roller Brakes and Nexus-7 speed-hub frown

REAR HUB

REAR HUB

FRONT HUB

FRONT HUB

FRONT OLD-STYLE LAMP

I peered on the brake. Very nice technical solution of the heat sink of the drum(?) brake as it looks like a turbine wheel of a torque converter. I rarely have seen that tech detail before. Presumably during high velocity rides it's a sound generator, too, clearing the road of pedestrians...
